Specialist Bio
Laura Bozeman is the Program Director of Vision Studies at UMass Boston and moved here from New Zealand in 2006. She has been in the vision profession since 1974 and began as an O&M Specialist in Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with Masters and Doctorate degrees and taught at UT, North Carolina Central University, Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand, and now at UMass Boston. Laura is certified in Low Vision, Orientation and Mobility and was licensed as a TVI in North Carolina. She has worked with all ages and has taught in Taiwan, China, Australia, New Zealand, and the US.
Laura is married to husband, Ken, and has 2 children: Holli (30) (married to Chris) has 2 children, Gavin and Isabella (with another on the way). Jay (26) is finishing his meteorology and astro-physics degree at North Carolina State University.
Laura has puppy-raised 3 labs for dog guide schools and has 2 labs as "career change" pets. She has a Black Belt in Karate and has taught self-defense workshops for teens and adults with VI.
