Improving Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.

CERTIFIED ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY SPECIALIST

We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist to work in our center-based training program with consumers ranging in age from 14 to 90 years.  The Carroll Center’s comprehensive instruction integrates non-visual methods with low vision aids/techniques.  This individual will conduct client assessments and provide indoor and outdoor instruction, including the use of public transportation.  S/hewill work within a team-based approach, and will be interacting with other members of the Rehabilitation Staff.  In addition s/he will be required to produce written assessments, document student’s progress, and present at meetings with consumers, family, and referring agency representatives. 
 

Qualifications: 

Master’s Degree in Orientation and Mobility and ACVREP (COMS) certification required.  2 years of COMS experience a plus.

We are a private, non-profit agency, located in Newton, Massachusetts, which serves persons of all ages who are blind or visually impaired.
