Improving Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.

Degree and Certification Information

The M.Ed. program in Vision Studies, Specialization in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy track requires the completion of 37 graduate academic credits.

Individuals who would like to pursue certification only in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and complete a total of 25 or more credits, depending on their background. Below are the Core Courses for the VRT Graduate Program:

  • SPE-G 615 (VISN 603): Braille Communications I 3 credits.
  • SPE-G 614 (VISN 604): Visual Functioning 3 credits.
  • SPE-G 616 (VISN 605): Implications of Low Vision 3 credits.
  • VISN 697 (VISN 632): Introduction to Vision Rehabilitation Therapy 4 credits
  • SPE-G 644 (VISN 630): Methods of Vision Rehabilitation Therapy I 4 credits.
  • SPE-G 645 (VISN 631): Methods of Vision Rehabilitation Therapy II 4 credits.
  • SPE-G 698 (VISN 639): Practicum in VRT 4 credits

Total: 25 credits.

  • COUNSL 603: Foundations of Rehabilitation 3 credits.
