Inclusion Specialist & Curriculum Developer

Empowerment Through Integration (ETI) is a 501(c)3 certified non-profit that is changing the narrative surrounding disability both for blind and sighted youth. We create integrated, supportive spaces with life skills training, emotional support, and community service opportunities. Through these integrated spaces, the youth are able to break down internal and external barriers surrounding views on disability in order to create positive change in society. Our ultimate goal is to enable society to understand that inclusion of all is a value for all. 
 
Position Description ETI is looking for a part-time Inclusion Specialist & Curriculum Developer with experience in inclusive education, academic research, design thinking and curriculum development, to be responsible for supporting ETI’s Empowerment Programs curricula as well as inclusive projects in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to United Nations, international non-profit organizations, Ministry of Education in Lebanon, among others. This professional will be responsible for leading the efforts associated with the design and composition of ETI’s Inclusive Manual and Inclusive Capacity Training Workshops to be implemented with diverse audiences in Lebanon (including educators, school administrators, private companies, etc). This position is based in the USA, with flexible hours, with possible travel requirements. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with ETI team, teachers, advisors and disability advisory committee for the design of inclusion manuals, workshops and Training of Trainers (TOTs) tailored to diverse audiences;
• Compose literature review on issues associated with inclusive education best practices;
• Revise and update ETI curricula and training materials associated with Empowerment Programs (EP) for youth with visual impairment, their families and volunteers;
•Collaborate with ETI Lebanon team members with localizing and tailoring EP curricula according to local socio-cultural context and participants’ needs;
• Participate on weekly ETI's team meetings (phone calls, Skype, etc); 
• Check email account daily and respond to emails in a timely manner;
• Report to ETI USA Program Director. 
 

Qualifications: 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 
 
The Inclusion Specialist and Curriculum Developer needs to be comfortable working online as part of an international and diverse team, lead the development and revision of ETI’s curricula, Inclusive Manual and workshops and adjust all programmatic and curriculum materials according to cultural relevance and best inclusive practices. 
 
Education/Experience Requirements: 
 
• Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education or related fields

• 2-5 years of experience in the field of disabilities and inclusive education

• Expertise in teacher training, universal design for learning, design thinking, curriculum design and improvement, flexible assessment, adaptive pedagogy, teaching and learning materials, inclusive education, and gender-sensitive pedagogy and curriculum 

• Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of gender, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status

• Comprehensive knowledge on the latest trends impacting disability community as well as a general understanding of international issues associated with inclusive education abroad

• Demonstrates effective skills related to instructing paraprofessionals, other staff, and teachers in the effective use of specialized equipment, communication, and modifications or accommodations for students with disabilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of characteristics of individuals with disabilities that include, but are not limited to, physical, developmental and cognitive disabilities

• Excellent interpersonal skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, and ability to handle confidential material

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks 
 
Graduate degrees in Special Education, Education, or related fields with experience in design thinking experience working and teaching abroad are strongly preferred.   

Type of position:   Online & Part-time (based on deliverables)

Monthly Salary:   USD $ 2,000.00/month 

Start day:   Immediate 

End day:    November 30th, 2019
