Improving Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.

Itinerant Orientation & Mobility Specialist

Provides orientation and mobility services to school age children and to their teachers/professionals and parents in the community. Some of the children may have multiple disabilities. The O&M travels in the community to schools and is responsible for scheduling and maintaining communications among team members in numerous agencies and school district s as well as completing all paperwork associated with evaluations, contract service, reports, and billing.

Qualifications: 
  • ACVREP Certification for O&M Specialist
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with school age children with visual impairments 
  • Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Crisis Prevention and Physical Intervention (CPPI) Certifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Master’s degree in Visual Impairment
  • Dual TVI/O&M certification
