Improving Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.

Part-time TVI or COMS

SEEM Collaborative is an educational collaborative north of Boston servicing 10 member districts and some non-member districts.  The Vision Department is looking for a part-time itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join their small, well-established vision education department.  Responsibilities include direct service to visually impaired school aged students (3-22) in the school and/or community setting as well as provide consultative vision services to their teachers/professionals and parents in the community.  Some of the children may have multiple disabilities.  
The TVI/COMS is required to travel to service students in their public school setting or agreed upon community setting for orientation and mobility services and is responsible for scheduling and maintaining communications among team members in numerous agencies and school districts including completing all paperwork associated with evaluations, contract service, reports, and billing.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Master's degree preferred 
  • Massachusetts DESE Certification as Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments
  • ACVREP certification
  • Competence in UEB and assistive technology required.
  • Experience with CVI preferred.
  • Preference may be given to dual certified as a TVI and COMS.
  • Ability to travel between schools for itinerant services.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
