Summary: Seeking multiple Certified Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) for the 2019-2020 school year with Future In Sight, the only statewide, non-profit vision services provider in New Hampshire. Incentives such as signing bonus and/or relocation assistance offered for qualified candidates.  Part-time or full-time positions can be accommodated.  (We also consider hiring students in the second year and/or practicum phase of UMass TVI coursework; such candidates are provided with a salary, a limited caseload and dedicated mentoring, field supervision and professional support.)

Description: Provide direct and/or consultative special education services to children ages birth-21, specific to vision loss. The TVIs on the Future In Sight team are itinerant, meaning that they travel from school to school (or site to site) to provide services to students, support teachers and parents and act as a liaison with community services. The TVI works with the educational team by advising the team about ways of enhancing the student’s learning by adapting activities and materials to the student’s abilities.

The TVI may help choose appropriate assistive technology, brainstorm with teachers and therapists about effective adaptations of curricula, and ensure that materials are made accessible . By working together, classroom teachers, therapists, and the TVI can create a classroom environment that encourages independence and academic success.

TVIs conduct specialized assessments and make recommendations, actively participate in the development and implementation of the Individualized Education Program as it relates to vision loss, and recommend educational and instructional strategies.  In most cases, TVIs offer both direct instruction to the student and appropriate consultation to the educational team about modifications, accommodations and making materials accessible.

What you can expect: The salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience. We offer a generous benefits package including health and dental benefits, generous paid time off, paid professional development, a matched retirement plan, federal mileage reimbursement, a flexible spending account and more.  Committed to building and retaining an excellent team of vision professionals, we offer incentives for qualified TVI candidates to join us, such as a signing bonus and/or relocation expenses.

Perhaps most importantly,  we actively cultivate a work environment where staff feel valued, respected and fully supported.  Come join our team!
