Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Position Summary:  The Teacher of the Visually Impaired works with students within the collaborative and in other districts to teach specific skills and procedures relating to vision loss for students ages 3-22 in a variety of settings using a variety of methods, materials, and adaptive technology.

Position Summary:  The Teacher of the Visually Impaired works with students within the collaborative and in other districts to teach specific skills and procedures relating to vision loss for students ages 3-22 in a variety of settings using a variety of methods, materials, and adaptive technology.
Specific Duties:   Consult with TEAM Members.  Assess students to determine current performance level and evaluate progress.  Seek out and participate in appropriate professional development.  Assist students in achieving independence and make recommendations for appropriate leisure and social activities according to functional vision.  Maintain a record of billable hours and submit monthly in a timely fashion.  Please see specific job description for complete details.
 

Qualifications

<p><strong>Qualifications:&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong>Excellent teamwork, communication and organization skills needed.</p>

<p><strong>Education/Training/Experience</strong>:&nbsp; Bachelor’s or advanced degree in teaching visually impaired.&nbsp; MA DESE certification as Teacher of the Visually Impaired.&nbsp; Dual certification in TVI and O&amp;M or Deaf-Blindness, preferred.</p>
