Improving Education for Individuals with Visual Impairments.

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Education Consultant 1)

The Department of Rehabilitation Services, Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (DORS-BESB), is recruiting for an Education Consultant 1 (10 Months) position.  We are looking for an organized individual who works well independently and collaboratively with others.  In addition, we are looking for a candidate who is knowledgeable in the principles and methods of education of children who are blind and visually impaired, including children with multiple impairments. This includes all areas of the expanded core curriculum (ECC).  Responsibilities will include traveling statewide. This is a 35 hour a week, Monday through Friday position. Graduation from college (graduation shall be considered successful completion of a four-year college course or its equivalent) and not less than twelve (12) semester hours' credit in courses applicable to the blind or partially-sighted. OR IN LIEU THEREOF an equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable to the State Board of Education for certification. Possession of a certificate in special education in the area of teaching or partially-sighted issued by the State Board of Education.
