Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - Central Massachusetts area
Full Time 37.5 hours/week
Perkins School for the Blind, located near Boston, was the first school for the blind chartered in the United States in 1829. For over 180 years, the staff at Perkins have been providing quality services to students and clients who are blind, visually impaired, deafblind and multi-impaired. The TVI provides direct and consultative vision services to school age children and to their teachers/professionals and parents in the community. Some of the children may have multiple disabilities. The TVI travels in the community to schools and is responsible for scheduling and maintaining communications among team members in numerous agencies and school districts as well as completing all paperwork associated with evaluations, contract service, reports, and billing.
Schedule: Full Time 37.5 hours/week
Certification as Massachusetts Teacher in Vision Impairment or commitment to acquire such certification within one academic year. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree. Ability to travel between schools for itinerant services.
