Special Education Teacher for Students with Visual Impairment

Under general supervision of the building administrator, the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment (TVI) works directly with students in West Fargo Public Schools to provide quality education to students with visual impairments, ages 3 through 21 years, through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs; an appropriate, community-based curriculum; communication and social skill development; inter-district cooperation, and a strong parent-teacher-student linkage. Opportunities exist to develop and experiment with adaptive technology; implement best practices, and integrate with general education populations.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Special Education
Valid ND Teaching License with endorsement in visual impairment
Strong background in positive behavioral supports
Prior experience working with special education students 
Effective communication skills both expressive and receptive
Ability to reason, interpret, and analyze information to generate new knowledge and understanding
Adept at problem-solving, resilient when faced with challenges, and skilled in planning and organization 
Ability to work well with others, resolve controversy and conflict through respectful negotiation, and accept constructive feedback
